On Thursday, May 29, our unified basketball team had the exciting opportunity to compete in the Special Olympics New York Unified Basketball Championships for Section 2, hosted at the MVP Arena.
In a thrilling matchup, our Falcons faced off against the Schenectady Patriots to compete for third place in their division and emerged victorious with a score of 32-30 in overtime!
Throughout the game, our Falcons showcased outstanding teamwork and determination. With the unwavering support of their fans, they concluded the season with an inspiring win that highlighted their spirit. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and camaraderie, both on and off the court.
Special Olympics Unified Sports brings together individuals with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team, fostering friendship, understanding and sportsmanship. This season, more than 30 schools, 375 athletes with intellectual disabilities and 340 unified partners without disabilities competed in Special Olympics Unified Basketball in Section 2.
