Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ

The Office of Grants and Program Development identifies, applies for, secures, and monitors funding from federal and state government sources and private foundations.   These may be entitlement funds or competitive grants. Grants may benefit the entire district, individual schools, and/or specific programs and last for one year or several years. 

Grants allow us to pilot new projects, expand initiatives that benefit students and families, and meet the professional needs of educators. This often includes collaborating with community-based organizations and other community partners to reach district goals and priorities.

New and continuing grants include:

United States Department of Agriculture-Food and Nutrition Service (USDA) Grant:

This program is for a two-year implementation grant to create a hydroponic container farm program that will serve as a STEM classroom for students, who will produce healthy greens for consumption in the district.

Local Government Records Management Grant:

Provides funding to organize, scan, image and store student records.

Learning Technology Grant:

Provides funding to develop a district-wide e-learning design framework to inform and implement rich blended learning environments and courses for students and staff.

Refugee School Impact Grant:

Provides supports for school-aged newcomers/refugees recently resettled to Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ by meeting their academic, social-emotional and physical needs

Extended School Day Grant:

Establishes after-school enrichment programming for students in kindergarten through middle school.

Teachers of Tomorrow:

Provides incentives that encourage prospective teachers to teach in a school district experiencing a teacher shortage or subject area shortage.

21^st Century Community Learning Centers:

Establishes after-school and summer enrichment programming for students in grades K-5.

Empire State After-School Program Grant:

Establishes after-school and summer enrichment programming for students in kindergarten through middle school.

Perkins Career and Technical Education:

Helps Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ and Abrookin Career and Technical Center provide students with a strong experience and understanding in select professional industries, promote college and career readiness and improve quality career education pathways.

School Improvement Grant:

Helps to support school improvement efforts at Focus and Priority schools.

Smart Scholars:

Early College High School program

Universal Pre-K:

Funding to implement pre-k programs for 3 and 4 year olds through partnerships with community based organizations
McKinney Vento Homeless Grant:  Program to facilitate improved attendance, engagement, and academic success of homeless children and youth

Title I is a federal assistance program for our nation’s schools, and the School-Parent Compact is a written agreement that outlines how all members of the school community will share the responsibilities for improving student academic achievement and the means by which everyone will build and develop a partnership to help students achieve the state standards.
