Registration is open for modified fall sports!

The 2026-27 sports season is coming soon and registration is now officially open for modified fall sports for the City School District of Ó£ÌÒÊÓÆµ! 

Any student in grades 7-8 who is interested in trying out for football, boys' soccer, girls' soccer, boys' cross country, girls' cross country or volleyball is invited to register via .


Sports physicals

All student-athletes interested in trying out for a fall sport must have an up-to-date physical submitted to Final Forms in advance of the first day of tryouts and practices.

Families are encouraged to get a completed physical from their child's physician. If you are unable to get a physical from your child's physician, you can schedule a free physical with Whitney Young's school-based health center by calling (518) 573-2556. 

Appointments with Whitney Young's school-based health center will be available at Ó£ÌÒÊÓÆµ High in room 4253 on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 4 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 13 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The district physician will also be available to facilitate sports physicals at Ó£ÌÒÊÓÆµ High in room 4253 on the following dates:

  • Monday, Aug. 17 from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 20 from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Sports physicals on Aug. 17 and 20 are free and no appointment is necessary.


Tryouts and practices begin

Modified school football (grades 7-8): Aug. 27

All other modified fall sports (grades 7-8): Aug. 31


Academic eligibility

As a reminder, students must be in good academic standing to participate in athletics. Academic eligibility will start at the beginning of each academic year. Eligibility is determined based on quarterly grades, and interim progress reports will serve as an important academic checkpoint for all student‑athletes.
