Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ

High-school students from Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ’s sister city – Nijmegen, Netherlands – on Friday prepared then shared a meal with culinary students at Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵs’s Abrookin Career and Technical Center.

The 32 Dutch students also shadowed with Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ High student volunteers and took part in a physical education class. Their visit to Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ High capped a week of activities in Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ.

Chef Lisa Valentine and the group of Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ and Nijmegen students (Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ High students are wearing chef hats) prepared a meal of savory bacon and cheese pancakes, vegetable soup with meatballs, Dutch butter cake, snickerdoodle cookies and chocolate chip cookies. Then they ate their creations!

The relationship between Nijmegen and Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ dates back to a humanitarian relief package Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ sent to the war-torn city in 1947. Nijmegen returned the favor with a shipment of tulip bulbs that were planted in Washington Park, and the annual Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ Tulip Festival was born.
