As of Dec. 1, 2020, the City School District of Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ has implemented a new digital security system district-wide to enhance safety procedures at all buildings.

The new system digitizes many of our current security procedures and requires visitors and employees to show identification upon entering a district building. Board of Education policy requires all visitors to present a valid form of identification when they enter a district building.

The City School District of Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵ encourages students, staff and community partners to be proactive about school safety. 

We seek to empower students to notify a teacher or trusted adult if they know a student is hurting themselves (through unsafe behavior or substance abuse) or another person (through bullying or other violence).

Parents and guardians can help. Talk to your child about the importance of letting an adult know if they see or hear something that makes them feel uncomfortable, nervous or frightened. Let your child know there is a difference between reporting something unsafe and tattling or gossiping.

Also, if your child reports a troubling act to you that occurred at school, contact your school principal and let them know.

We all play a role in school safety, and it is vital that we work together to cultivate a safe and secure community.

Emergencies and violent incidents in schools nationwide are critical issues that must be addressed in an expeditious and effective manner. School districts are required to develop a District-Wide School Safety Plan designed to prevent or minimize the effects of serious violent incidents and emergencies, and to facilitate coordination with local agencies in the event of such incidents or emergencies.

You also can download our proposed plan for the 2026-27 school year for review and comment. The Board of Education will hold a public hearing to receive comments and feedback on the plan later this summer.

At the beginning of each school year, all parents receive the district's Student Code of Conduct. It outlines what is expected of each and every student when in school, as well as the disciplinary action that is taken when a student does not behave appropriately.
